And the 2017 Liebster Award Goes To…

I’m so excited to share with you that I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award for new bloggers by the lovely Jenna at Grace & Motherhood! Thank you, Jenna, for your confidence in my blog! Be sure to check out her amazing blog!

The Liebster Award recognizes bloggers who are new to the blogging community and is a great way for people to notice all of the blood, sweat, and tears that go into creating a blog. Personally, my blog is about sharing my faith and this amazing journey on which God is taking me. It’s definitely not about monetary gain. So when someone takes notice of what I do, it’s so very encouraging. Continue below to read my interview and find out a little bit more about me!

Now for…

As with any award, there are guidelines for the Liebster Award.

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you for the Liebster Award.
  2. Link back to the blogger who awarded you.
  3. Upload the award to your blog. It can be done as a blog or on the sidebar.
  4. Answer the questions you have been asked.
  5. Nominate 5-11 blogs with followers less than 200 that you believe deserve to receive the award. If you feel others deserve the award, then you are welcome to nominate more.
  6. Notify the nominated bloggers so that they can accept the award. Bloggers can be nominated more than once, giving their readers more chances to learn more about them.

  • What has been your biggest challenge with blogging?

I suppose it would be finding the time and inspiration to do it. I work two other part-time jobs and take care of my home and my four-year-old son, so finding the time can be a challenge. Then when it seems I have the time, I don’t always have the inspiration to publish a blog post.

  • What is your number one tip for other bloggers?

Don’t go into it as a money-making venture. When I first started, I wanted to write and I wanted to start a writing ministry. I did hope that it could turn into some extra income for my family but it hasn’t worked out that way. Because of that, I’ve had to change my focus completely to the ministry part of it. Someday maybe it will make money, but that’s up to God. And perhaps your blog will make money at some point as well (a lot of bloggers actually make a full-time income or better), but that shouldn’t be the only goal in blogging. There has to be passion outside of the financial goals.

  • What are your hobbies other than blogging?

I love to read. I had gotten away from reading for pleasure until recently and now I’m completely in love with my local library again. My current favorite author is Terri Blackstock and I’m working on reading all of her books. I also love to sing and have sung in church since I was three years old. Another hobby is definitely watching sports. I’m a very big fan of baseball and football and excited about college football starting up again. (Go Clemson Tigers!)

  • What successful entrepreneur do you admire and why?

I love Joanna Gaines. She is successful, and famous even, but still stays down to earth, loves her family, and lives her faith.

  • Who is your favorite blogger and why?

I would have to say Crystal Paine at Money Saving Mom. She shares my affinity for frugal living and my faith in God. She also loves to help new bloggers. I don’t know her personally but kind of feel like she’s a friend.

  • Tell us about your blog and why you started blogging.

I describe my blog as a faith and family blog. I share a lot about the things God is teaching me, particularly in this season of my life as a new stay-at-home and work-at-home mom. I also blog about marriage and motherhood, specifically the challenges of having a child with sensory processing disorder. Every once in a while I throw in something fun like travel.

When I decided to leave full-time work outside the home, I knew God was calling me to do more with my writing and to make it a ministry. She Who Has Believed was born from that.

  • Item you can’t live without.

Well, I definitely need my Bible in some form, whether print or digital…but isn’t that the common answer for a faith blogger? I guess I would also have to say my computer or phone since that’s how I work now.

  • What and who motivate you to write?

God, first and foremost. I love sharing the ways He is teaching me in this crazy thing called life. My husband and son are also a big inspiration to me and make me want to better myself and do more with the gifts God has given me. My mom is also a big influence on me as a writer. I know that I got the writing gene from her and she has always been my biggest cheerleader.

Congratulations, ladies! Be sure to give their blogs some love. They are amazing!

  1. Thank so much, Edie!
Blogging does take a lot of hard work. Getting some recognition really does give a little boost in my spirit.
May God continue to bless you and your writing.

  2. Edie, Thank you for this nomination. I find that every time I start to lag and ask God if I am doing what I am supposed to be doing, He gives me a boost such as this. I believe there are a lot of great Christian bloggers out there and it was discouraging at first because I kept thinking of them in terms of ‘competition’. Just this morning I heard something from an audio book, Grit, by Angela Duckworth, that God used to correct that thinking. She said that the original meaning of the root word competition does not mean what we have come to associate competition with (vying against others). It actually means to come together, to strive together, to agree to…I love that I heard this today when I received your nomination. I love that we are all coming together to point others to God’s love and grace. God Bless your family and your blog!

    1. I was in the exact same place, Mary, when I was notified of my nomination! I love having a community of sisters who understand the challenges and rewards of blogging. I was so happy to nominate you!

  3. Thank you, Edie, this made my day! I appreciate you taking the time to see my blog and then nominate it for recognition. So many of us who blog lay our hearts open for so many to see, it is nice to have someone see and appreciate it!
